This one is for the guys, or even the Lady's that have a guy they need to help dress better. Second Life is full of clothing stores. There are hundreds of people if not thousands out there selling clothing. Unfortunately a vast majority of them focus on the Ladies. Now do not get me wrong, I love that the Ladies get to look nice in Second Life but the guys have a difficult time finding those stores that sell quality clothing. So with that in mind I am going to embark on a series of articles to help the men out there find clothing that does not look like it came off the newbie rack.
My first stop on this train to good fashion is one of my favorite clothing stores in Second Life called Gothicatz. I am highlighting Gothicatz first because of the great detail they go through in creating their clothing. No resell templates here and no quick cut and paste either. Their clothing textures are rich in the smallest details to give you the best look possible.
One of the first things you will notice is they are geared towards urban goth and punk culture a little. You will find some costume type clothing here that maybe you are not going to wear everywhere. They however also have several gems that are toned down just a bit and can appeal to a broad range of tastes. If you are a guy hitting your head against your desk trying to find quality clothing, Gothicatz is worth a trip. Lady's take your man there and by the way, they have a large womens department that is just as good as their mens wear.
Once you have shopped around Gothicatz and at the very least now see that mens clothing does not have to be simple and cheap looking it is time to find that one article of clothing every Second Life man needs to have.... the standby tux. If you are like me your girl will want to drag you off to a jazz dance hall at some point. She will also want to go to one of the good ones and they usually have a dress code. So lets find you a tux that will set you apart from the rest of the guys there and have you be the envy of the joint.
One of the best tux shops in Second Life that I have found is Styles of Edo. It is an expansive store with several styles of tuxedo from the classic to the most modern and stylish. What I like about Edo is the selection. They are not a clothing shop that happens to make a tuxedo, they are a formal wear shop that specializes in making high quality formal wear for both men and women, so yes Lady's you can pick something up for yourself here too. So before you head out to that next black tie affair, stop by Styles of Edo and pick yourself up a tux that will turn heads and have you the envy of everyone at your event.
I hope this helps get you fitted a bit better and allows you to shed that newbie look so many men in Second Life are plagued with. Join me next week as we spot light a few more designers that are doing their part to help end the curse of the newbie man.
