Decorators Den part 2

ds_den_2_01

Welcome to the second installment of the Decorators Den,  your road map to the highest quality furniture and decoration fabricators on the grid.  In this installment we are going to highlight another of my favorite furniture builders in Second life,  Spanks.  A furniture store consisting of two sims packed with quality furnishings in an easy to navigate showroom purpose built to highlight the furnitures quality.

One of the first things you will notice is much of their furniture is in fact animated for more intimate moments.  The quality of their animations are good though maybe not the best there is it is certainly good enough for even the discriminating shopper.

About the authorMy name is Rhotis Paine I'm a veteran Second Life resident for more than two years.  I'm an avid bike enthusiast and explorer of the grid.  When not riding or exploring I can usually be found tinkering with builds that the perfectionist in me will never consider good enough to put on the market.

My favorite thing about Spanks is the wide range of designs they have.  If you want kitchens you will find them at Spanks,  bedrooms,  living rooms,  dining rooms,  outdoor furniture you will find it all at Spanks.  You will also find island furniture,  modern furniture,  classic furniture in a strong pallet of color choices.  There are enough choices in design and colors that everyone will find something they like at Spanks.

If you have read my other articles you will know that one of the most important factors to me in deciding if a builders products are high quality or not is their use of texture.  The build does not have to have super high detailed textures,  or even original textures but they do have to have textures that make sense for the product at hand and lead to a realistic look to the product and not something done by a bad cartoonist.  Spanks does not have the best texture use I have ever seen from a builder but they have a fine eye for color balance and quality.  The products look like they could be real and helps draw you into your second life.

Another big factor in determining if a build is of good quality or not is their use of prims.  Some builders are so meticulous that their builds while looking spectacular have a prim count unreasonable for most people to utilize while others are so prim conscious their builds look cheap.  Spanks has found that nice middle ground that I personally look for in a build.  The prim counts are more then reasonable while utilizing the prims effectively gives the furniture the realism I require in a build to consider it high quality.

Another nice feature at Spanks is the art gallery.  Many in Second Life go through great pains to try to find nice art to place on their walls.  You search all over the grid or the web hunting down those pieces that bring out your personality.  Spanks has done a lot of the work for you.  Their art showroom consists of numerous paintings crossing broad spectrum in style and artists.  You can choose from classic art,  vintage art,  Van Gogh,  Picasso,  Renoir and several others.  Its a nice little touch to the store to help minimize your travel throughout the grid to find that nice piece of art to hang on your walls.

All in all I strongly suggest giving Spanks a look if you are in the market to decorate that new house of yours.  You will almost certainly find something you like there.
