Welcome to the second installment of Exploring Gor,  the blog series to help you learn a little about the sims within Second Life that make up the world of Gor.  Gor is a immersive role play environment based on 28 novels written by John Norman portraying a primitive world based on caste systems and male dominance.  With 28 novels to pull from it is a much more concise role play environment then most others.  The world of Gor is a mature environment where most sims are rated as adult.  If you venture into Gor you will see violence,  nudity and strong sexual content so it is not a place for children.
Last time I told you a little about the village of Ironhall in the northern region of Gor.  Today I will discuss the City of Fina.  Fina is setup more along the lines of traditional Gorean role play that you will find throughout the Second Life Gorean world.  It is a walled port city off the Thassa Sea.  The City of Fina exists on a sim continent consisting of five sims.  The City itself along with the docks to the city take up one sim on its own with other role play existing on the other 5 including outlaw groups and taluna groups.  Fina is a well established Gorean sim within Second Life having withstood the test of time as it has been around for several years.  It is a popular sim with traffic routinely reaching near 30,000 on the Second Life traffic meter so chances are you will find role play scenarios whenever you decide to go visit.
Fina is not exactly a by the book sim though are closer then many you will still find scenarios that simply would not exist within the realm of the novels.  The main area you will find for the reason I call them not exactly by the book is their willingness to role play with groups that do not resemble Gor.  These consist of capture role play groups that only go to Gor because Gor is the largest non modern role play in SL that offers combat opportunities.   So if you go there you might run into women wielding berserker swords 3 times their size or men in cowboy hats raiding.  To be fair to Fina this is a problem that plagues much of SL Gor and the sims face the choice of allowing it to get role play or banning it and losing some of the role play people want.   Of particular note Fina is very friendly to those wishing to portray free women and has a large free woman population.
The build is above average if aging as the newer sims will tend to have fresher builds and textures.  Rebuilding a sim is not a small undertaking so what you miss in a newer, fresher build in Fina they make up for with a stable role play community, high traffic and a broad range of role play opportunities.
